Twin Memory Foam Mattress
You can select a twin memory
foam mattress in a range of specifications, so whatever your needs, you can be sure you will be able to find a twin
memory foam mattress to suit.
A twin memory foam mattress is a great for kids, the elderly, or even if you space is just a
bit limited. We use twin beds in one of our guestrooms and the comfort of these mattresses does not go unnoticed by
our guests! The standard size for a twin mattress is 38" X 75", which also happens to be the standard size for a
single bed. If space is very limited consider getting bunk beds and put a memory foam mattress top and
bottom!
It should be noted that you can get twin and twin XL mattresses. Twin XL is the
standard hospital bed size and measures 38" X 80". These mattresses are 5 inches longer than the standard twin
memory foam mattress size. You should take careful note of the measurements of your frame if you are buying the
mattress separately. Some companies have reduced the width by a couple of inches in a cost cutting exercise. We
recommend you look for a company that does not do this and the extra inches are definitely worth paying a bit extra
for to get a standard sized mattress.
You may also see so called "split king" mattresses which are in essence, two twin
XL mattresses set next to each other in the same base. These are typically used in adjustable bed configurations
which allows one person in the bed to be sitting up and reading while the other person is asleep with the mattress
in the flat position.
When buying a mattress always make sure that the delivery will be in a vacuum
sealed anti-microbial package which will protect the mattress from mold, mildew and other odor-causing bacteria
while your mattress is in transit. All good suppliers will mention this on their delivery
pages.
If you want to install a memory foam mattress in each of your bedrooms, it can get
expensive. You can consider using a cheaper twin memory foam mattress topper on your guest rooms. These
mattress toppers are two to three inches thick and are designed to sit on top of an existing mattress. If
your existing mattress is too firm or you simply wake up with aches and pains, a mattress topper can be a
good choice if your mattress is new or in good condition. If your mattress is at the end of its life and is
sagging in the middle or otherwise generally deteriorating then consider replacing it with a full memory foam
mattress as opposed to a mattress topper. You should also avoid getting a mattress topper that uses clay as
part of the construction material. You will see this in cheaper toppers offered from overseas distributors.
We advise you to stay away from these as the foam will break down more quickly and become uncomfortable.
Spend the little bit extra on a topper made in the United States and will pay dividends in the long
run.
