Queen Memory Foam Mattress
A queen memory foam mattress is a real gift to yourself. As stated elsewhere
on this website, these mattresses are amazing for relieving pressure just where your body needs the
relief.
The dimensions of a queen memory foam mattress are
usually 60 inches by 80 inches however this can vary depending on the country you are buying the mattress from
so make sure you check and compare to the base you are using to make sure the mattress will
fit.
These mattresses are often shipped in vacuum sealed bags that compress the foam.
If your mattress comes like this you may need to wait 24 hours until it expands to its full
size.
If you cannot afford the full mattress then a queen memory foam mattress topper
is a good alternative, especially if you have a rather hard mattress! These are much cheaper and fit on top of your
existing queen mattress while giving you lots of the benefits of sleeping on memory foam. Look for toppers that
have the Temperature Smart label as they will keep the body cool while you sleep.
You can clean your queen memory foam mattress using the following
method:
A. Vacuum the mattress to remove surface dust and dirt. A hand vacuum cleaner is
ideal for this job.
B. You then need to wash the mattress. This is ideally done outdoors as it can
be a bit messy. You can also use the bath tub. If you are going to clean the mattress outdoors, make sure you put a
large piece of clean plastic sheeting or tarpaulin down to prevent the mattress getting dirty.
C. Fill a plastic spray bottle with 1 part fabric cleaner (Woolite works well)
and 2 parts water.
D. Spray the entire mattress with the cleaner in the spray bottle and leave the
solution to work on the mattress for around forty five minutes.
E. Rinse the mattress thoroughly with cold water. If you are cleaning in the
bath you can use the shower. If you are cleaning it outdoors a hosepipe will do the trick.
F. Squeeze the excess water from the mattress by folding the mattress in half
across the middle and pushing down on it. Twisting the mattress should be avoided as this can cause
damage.
G. Spray a weak vinegar solution all over the mattress (1 to 5 parts is a good
mixture)
H. Rinse the mattress and squeeze out the excess water as in the earlier
step.
I. Let the mattress dry naturally in the air. Some people use hair dryers or fan
heaters but this is not recommended as it can easily damage the foam.
Note always read the labels that come with your mattress as these instructions
are only a general guide. There may be additional or specific cleaning instructions for your brand of mattress and
you want to be sure that you don't do anything that could damage it.
Some other tips to prolong the life of your queen memory foam mattress include
flipping the mattress and rotating it through 180 degrees approximately every six months. You should also change
your sheets often and vacuum the matress once a month.
