King Size Memory Foam Mattress

A King size memory foam mattress is the ultimate in luxury and a once in a lifetime treat for yourself. My dutch friend is 6 feet nine inches and his feet are nowhere near sticking out the end of his king size memory foam mattress.

A king size memory foam mattress will measure 76 inches wide by 80 inches long by 8 inches deep. A good mattress will have different layers of differing foam density. A good guide is to look for mattresses with two inches of three pound density at the surface and 6 inches depth of around 2 pound density foam. This will give you the perfect support combination. Check to make sure your frame is not for a California King size as this is 72 inches by 84 inches and will not fit a king mattress perfectly unless the frame is adjustable.

Over time odors will creep into your mattress and you will want to remove them as quickly as possible. The best way of doing this is as follows.

A. Sprinkle the whole mattress with baking soda and leave over night.

B. The next day, vacuum the baking soda from the mattress. A hand vacuum cleaner is particularly useful for this.

C. Using a lemon-scented all purpose cleaner that does not contain bleach, spray the entire mattress and allow to dry. When the mattress is dry, vacuum the mattress thoroughly.

D. Finally use a product such as Febreze to deodorize the mattress.

You will also undoubtedly end up with a few stains on your mattress. They too can be easily cleaned off using these steps:

A. Dampen the stained area with cold tap water.

B. Sprinkle some dry boric acid onto the damp area.

C. Take a clean, lint-free cloth and continually blot the damp area using a circular motion until the stain is removed.

D. Let the mattress dry over night before giving the cleaned area a thorough going over with the hand vacuum.

When buying a mattress try to purchase from a retailer that is a member of the Beter Business Bureau as they will likely be a reputable company.
